I launched my first photoblog in 2004 using custom PHP script. Very soon I realized that I spend more time managing my script than taking photographs. In 2005 I switched to Folderblog and used it for 5 years. Folderblog is the lightweight PHP script by Donald Tetto which does not require any DB. I fell in love with the simplicity of Folderblog but unfortunately Donald stop developing it and I had to find another solution. Finally in the beginning of 2011 I switch to:

I am pretty sure that every photobloger at some point experienced the pain of dealing with hosting companies. You chose big company and you stuck with the rigid environment, you pick smaller host where you enjoy great flexibility but smaller companies have tendency to disappear one day. In 2008 I got burned by one of the smaller hosts and I decided to spend extra time to find reliable solution. Fortunately I came across forum at Pixelpost where fellow photoblogers highly recommended "photoblogers friendly" hosting company Eleven2. After 2 months of testing it I moved all my client’s and personal websites to Eleven2. At this point I host more 10 websites there.

Update: at some point at the end of 2012 I realized that I outgrown Eleven2 and I needed hosting company with more solid infrastructure. And again photo blogging community helped me to make the right choice – Hostgator. It took me few months to transfer all my websites to Hostgator but now I am very happy with the variety  of services and quality of support at Hostgator.
